Based on the semi-autobiographical life of her brother, Sven’s, experience as a prolific DJ in the nineties, French filmmaker Mia Hansen-Løve’s fourth feature as writer-director is a passionate and devastatingly realistic musical drama that explores the euphoric highs and crushing lows of life in the music industry.
In a break-out performance, Deélix de Givry plays teenager Paul, who, throughout the nineties, grows to dominate the underground music scene in Paris, forming a DJ collective with his friends and living a life fuelled by drugs, sex and endless electronica. Little does he know that as the years go on, his career may not be as personally and professionally sustainable as he once thought.
